Council welcomes NBNCo announcement - 1 April 2015
Wagga Wagga City Council has welcomed today’s NBNCo announcement, saying it will be a boon for businesses and residents alike.
NBNCo issued its quarterly update on the national rollout plan today with 158,000 homes and businesses across 40 cities, suburbs and towns – including Wagga – added to the list.
“The NBN will be a huge boost for our community – residents will be able to work from home, and have better access to online education and vital health resources,” Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga Councillor Rod Kendall said.
“In terms of local industry, Wagga businesses will have more opportunity to access other markets and to improve efficiencies.”
Work on 35,100 homes and businesses across the Riverina is set to begin by September 2016.
Wagga is listed to have 16,900 multi technology mix connections and is joined on the list by Balranald, Culcairn, Darlington Point, Griffith, Hay, Henty, Holbrook, Hillston, Leeton and Narrandera.
“Wagga is the largest inland city in NSW and the NBN will unlock our city’s potential, both in terms of lifestyle and for our growing economy,” Cr Kendall said.
