Wagga Comedy Fest 2025 – A long weekend of laughs awaits

Published: 20 Mar 2025 10:34am

Wagga Wagga’s annual comedy celebration is back for another memorable year. The Wagga Comedy Fest 2025 will bring the region a weekend full of laughter, entertainment, and unforgettable performances over the June long weekend, from 5 to 8 June 2025.

This year’s festival offers more than 20 performances, across four venues over the four days. Civic Theatre Manager, Claire Harris promises that audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy some of the best comedic acts from across the country, with an exciting balance of well-established performers and more experimental, fringe-style acts.

“It's a chance to explore different kinds of comedy, from Cabaret and Musicals to Stand-up,” Ms Harris said.

“If you plan to book a ticket for one of the more familiar faces, I encourage you to dive into something new and surprising as well.”

Tickets for Wagga Comedy Fest go on sale on Wednesday at 10am, with the lineup featuring big names like Dave Hughes, Melanie Bracewell and Luke McGregor as well as more quirky fringe acts like The Dilapidated Diva, Garry Starr and Gladys: A Musical Affair.

“I am particularly excited to see Stephanie Broadbridge on stage for her parody Breaking: the Musical,” Ms Harris said.

“After seeing and hearing so much about the story of this show in the news following the Paris Olympics, it is really exciting that the show is coming to Wagga Wagga”.

Stephanie Broadbridge, the star and creator of Breaking: The Musical, visited Wagga for the Launch of Comedy Fest on Monday night. Launch event attendees were treated to a sneak peek at some break dance moves and what might be in store when she returns in June with her show.

“It’s my first time to Wagga and I’m looking forward to seeing the comedy scene that I’ve heard so much about,” Ms Broadbridge said.

“We can’t wait to bring Breaking: The Musical a parody and unauthorised (but completely legal) telling of an Australian Olympian’s journey to the Paris Olympics, to the people of the Riverina.”

For the second year running, there will be a free show for festival goers. Brown Women Comedy will show on Friday night at 7.15pm, tickets are free but need to be pre-booked through the Civic Theatre’s box office or online.

The Riverina Comedy Club House also returns this year with a full schedule of local talent, stand-up and improvised comedy events. It’s the perfect venue to experience the unique voices of Riverina-based performers in shows like The Great Wagga Comedy Fest Debate and The Gong Show.

The ClubHouse also brings bigger names in comedy with Richard Glover, Jeromaia Detto, and Shad & Pete promising plenty of laughs and surprises along the way.

For those looking to make the most of the long weekend, the festival provides a wonderful opportunity to see a range of performances across multiple venues. With shows at the Civic Theatre, the CSU Riverina Playhouse, The Riverina Comedy Club House and the Laugh Lounge, it's easy to plan a full weekend of entertainment and laughter. The staggered showtimes mean you can catch more than one performance each night, making it possible to enjoy a variety of comedians and shows in a single visit.

Tickets go on sale Wednesday, 19 March at 10am and can be purchased through the Civic Theatre website or by calling the Box Office at 6926 9688.
