Take your rubbish to the tip for free on Sunday August 16 - 31 July 2015
Wagga Wagga residents might be in for more chilly winter weather, but it’s never too early to start spring cleaning.
The next Tip Free Day is on Sunday August 16, with free entry at the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre (GWMC) between 7am and 4.30pm.
Whether you’ve got a shed in a shambles or a trailer full of trash, Tip Free Day gives all residents the chance to head to GWMC to dispose of their general domestic waste at no cost.
Wagga Wagga City Council’s Director Infrastructure Services Heinz Kausche said
Tip Free Day includes everything from garden waste to mixed recyclables and general household waste.
“Spring is almost here and Tip Free Day is a great opportunity to have a big clean out or a just a tidy up,” he said.
“The free days complement our normal service that, as a result of increased recycling capability within the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre, includes more materials that can be disposed of for free every day.”
Televisions, computers and computer equipment can be disposed of for free, not just on Tip Free Day, but every day that the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre is open, as part of the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme. This offer is available to householders and small businesses only.
“You can also dispose of polystyrene for free all year round at GWMC,” Mr Kausche said.
“Council can reprocess it on-site for reuse into a range of recycled products.”
Disposal of special wastes such as tyres, builder’s wastes, refrigerative items, mattresses and gas bottles are not included in Tip Free Day and will incur a charge as per the 2015/16 Revenue and Pricing Policy.
