Turn your trash into treasure at the 2015 Garage Sale Trail on 24 October

Whether you’re a treasure hunter or a hoarder, make sure you’ve got the Garage Sale Trail marked on your calendar.

Cupboards, sheds and garages across the country will be set free on Saturday 24 October for the fifth trail, a national grassroots waste education program powered by more than 150 local councils.

Twenty-five sales across Wagga Wagga have been registered so far, many of which will raise money for good causes such as church groups, the base hospital auxiliary and local charities.

Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga Councillor Rod Kendall said there were more than 8000 sales across the country last year with average takings of $300.

“It doesn’t cost anything to take part and you have the chance to make some money for community groups, charities, sporting clubs or a just a rainy day,” he said.

“You’ll also be doing your bit to reduce waste to landfill and promote reuse over rubbish.

“Everyone who registers are provided with a seller page and you can also download posters and flyers to promote your garage sale.”

If it’s time for a clean-up, you can register for Australia’s biggest garage sale at www.garagesaletrail.com.au.

Shoppers looking to discover a unique local treasure can also visit the website and search what’s happening in the area.
