Calling all kids: Little Big Day Out is back on 1 October
Little Big Day Out is on again!
This free community event for two to 12 year olds will be jam-packed with activities showcasing the services of Wagga Wagga City Council on Thursday 1 October from 9am to noon.
Check out machines Council staff use to get the job done, have a go at the water balls from the Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre, design your own playground or adopt a wetland inhabitant.
Get tearing, scrunching and sticky-taping with Paper Play and pose in your very own Wagga Wagga postcard.
Parents, never fear – while the kids draw up a storm with the Art Gallery, you can kick back in the Chill Out Zone.
Kids can also explore the Civic Precinct with Planning Permit Pursuit for the chance to win a prize, including family passes to the 2015 Wagga Show and entry passes to the Oasis.
There’s also plenty of entertainment, with the circus antics of Heidi Hoops, Benny B and Tina Green. They’ll also run drop-in workshops on the day and then be back for a big finale to wow the crowd.
The fun doesn’t stop there, with three free inflatables, tasty treats, cute and cuddly animals, a fire truck and the toy library.
Little Big Day Out was established in 2003 as an opportunity to showcase Council’s services to the community. The free annual community event is celebrated in the second week of the spring school holidays and in the Civic Precinct and Wollundry Amphitheatre space.
What’s on:
Art Gallery: Come along and help draw big things – cars, planes, trees and animals – at the Big Draw and Chill Out Zone.
Oasis: Kids can try out the new water rollers.
Parks and Recreation: Design your own playground with the Funbobulator.
Health and Environment: Needles the Echidna will be out and about giving away bookmarks that teach kids about what they should do if they spot a sharp. A mini Marrambidya Wetland will be built where kids can learn about the creatures that will
call this wetland home. They can adopt a wetland inhabitant and take home a certificate to show their commitment to caring for our local animals.
Library: Get tearing, scrunching, sticky-taping, and above all get creative with Paper Play. Grown-ups, you can always pretend you're doing it for the kids.
Family Day Care: Come and make wooden dolly pegs with natural resources. Younger kids may need assistance.
Assets/Infrastructure: Come and see the grader and smaller bits and pieces.
Planning: Planning Permit Pursuit is a treasure hunt with questions and clues for kids to explore precinct and win prizes
Tina Green Circus Show: An action-packed show with hula hoops, unicycles and more. Tina Green will have you laughing as she catches crockery on her head.
Heidi Hoops Circular Circus: Spinning circles on fingertips, hips, top hats, kneecaps and on tippy toes – but Heidi Hoops might need your help.
Benny B Show: Take some juggling, a dash of physical comedy and a good drop of outrageous audience participation and you’ve got the Benny B Show.
