City of Wagga Wagga enters caretaker period ahead of election

The Council of the City of Wagga Wagga has now entered the caretaker period ahead of the Local Government election.
Nominations closed this week, with more than 50 candidates vying for nine Councillor positions at the Saturday 10 September election.
During the caretaker period, no major decisions are to be determined by the Council, General Manager on any other delegate that will limit the action of an incoming Council.
Councillor Rod Kendall will remain Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga until a mayoral election is held by the incoming new Council. The mayoral election will take place at the 26 September Ordinary Council Meeting, subject to declaration of the election results.
Pre-poll voting opens on Monday 29 August and closes at 6pm on 9 September and is available at the Returning Officer's office at 63-65 Johnson Street.
Postal vote applications are open now and close 5 September.
