Call for information following damage to Rawlings Park

Council are calling on community members to come forward with any information following another incident of senseless destruction at Rawlings Park.

In recent weeks, the sports ground has been the target of hoon drivers who have ploughed through log barriers and broken steel gates in order to cause extensive damage to Rawlings Park fields 2-3.

"This is particularly disappointing given we are in the middle of the winter sports season," Manager Strategic Parks Operations David Walker said.

"Council staff and sporting groups are already battling the higher than average rainfall this winter, so for someone to wilfully damage Rawlings Park is extremely disappointing.

"In the short term we are looking at temporary bollards with the aim of installing steel cable fencing once conditions improve as it is currently too wet to undertake works.

"In the meantime, we need the community to be our eyes and ears and help catch these vandals."

Council has reported the matter to police and asks residents to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or the Wagga Wagga Local Area Command with any information.

Interim repairs have been undertaken to the playing surface and broken fencing.
