A new organisational structure for the City of Wagga Wagga has been adopted by Councillors at the July Ordinary meeting of Council held tonight.

"A review of the organisational structure has been under way for several months and Councillors have tonight adopted the reviewed structure," General Manager Alan Eldridge said.

"This is a new direction for the organisation and forms a key part of our Fit2Perform strategy, which builds on Council's Fit for the Future action plan.

"The new organisational structure is an opportunity for Council to better align like functions, balance our legislative requirements with community needs and has an emphasis on financial accountability, while supporting a framework of learning and opportunity for a more flexible and multi-skilled workforce.

"By creating more cooperation and collaboration across the organisation we will ensure we deliver services and projects to the community in the best possible way."

Mr Eldridge said more details of the new structure would be publically released later in the week.

"My first priority now is Council staff and advising them of how the new structure looks and the implementation process," he said.
