Time to lend a hand and help clean up Wagga - 2 March 2016

The City of Wagga Wagga is calling on the community to follow the example of local school students and take part in Clean Up Australia Day.

Schools around the city will be tidying up their grounds and nearby areas this week, while residents can get involved on Sunday 6 March.

The community clean up will take place along Kooringal Road, with volunteers asked to meet at O’Halloran Park on the corner of Lake Albert Road and Kooringal Road at 9am.

“Clean Up Australia Day is a great way to make a difference in our community,”

City of Wagga Wagga’s Environmental Education Officer Alice Kent said.

“Not only does litter look bad, but it detracts from the great recreation areas we have in Wagga.

Schools Clean Up Australia Day is a great way to engage students in environmental education and getting them involved in a positive initiative that enhances their community.”

More schools will take part in this year’s Schools Clean Up Australia Day compared to 2015, with 20 registrations received.
