Wagga Wagga is celebrating over 50 years of sisterhood with our American and German sister cities.
Delegations from our sister cities Leavenworth in the United States of America and Nördlingen in Germany are visiting the City from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 October 2017.
The visit marks our 55th ‘twinning’ anniversary with Leavenworth and our 50th anniversary with Nördlingen.
“We have a long and proud history with our sister cities and look forward to hosting delegations from two of our sister cities and showing them all that Wagga has to offer,” Mayor of Wagga Wagga City Council Councillor Greg Conkey OAM said.
While in Wagga the delegations will visit the Army Recruit Training Centre at Kapooka, Charles Sturt University, take part in a Cultural Tour with Mark Saddler, attend a Citizenship Ceremony and soak in our multicultural community through food, art, music and culture at Fusion Festival.
Locals will be able to meet and greet the delegates at Fusion Festival on Saturday 21 October, as well as enjoy the tunes of Nördlingen’s band Tintenfisch who are performing at the festival.
Tintenfisch will also practice with the Eisteddfod Winners Band on the Thursday evening.
Wagga’s sister cities are invited to visit every four years as an opportunity to strengthen our cultural ties. Unfortunately our sister city Kunming in China was unable to send a delegation this year.
