If you have left your Valentine’s Day plans until the last minute, Wagga Wagga City Council is ready to play cupid.

Love will be in the air throughout the Civic Precinct on 14 February when Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, Museum of the Riverina, Wagga Wagga City Library and Civic Theatre combine to present Date Night.

The gallery, library and museum will be open until 9pm, with live music throughout and bar facilities in the Civic Centre and museum.

Love birds can stroll through the current exhibitions from ground breaking Australian artists at the gallery, enjoy the riotous Best of the Bald Archy Prize in the museum, or exchange glances with beautiful strangers through the shelves of the library.

Then at sundown, bring a picnic to the Wollundry Lagoon for a free outdoor screening of The Princess Bride from 8.30pm, presented by the Civic Theatre.

“Councils traditionally focus on the three R’s – roads, rates, and rubbish, but this year we’re adding romance,” Director Community Janice Summerhayes said.

“There are so many exciting exhibitions on show in Wagga Wagga at the moment, and we thought we’d take this opportunity to make them available after dark.

“Bring a date or you might even meet someone. We can’t guarantee you’ll find love, but you’re bound to find even more to love about our city and what our cultural facilities have to offer.

The full program of exhibitions and entertainment is on display at www.visitwagga.com/datenight.
