Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 4 March

It’s time to give our city a tidy up at Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 4 March.
This year’s community clean up site will be Willans Hill, while 19 school groups and 11 other community groups and organisations will be removing rubbish from other areas across Wagga Wagga.
“Clean Up Australia Day is a great way to make a difference in our community,” Wagga Wagga City Council’s Environmental Education Officer Sam Parsell said.
“Not only does litter look bad, but it detracts from the great recreation areas we have in
Wagga.
“Come on down and lend a hand on Sunday at the community clean up. We chose Willans
Hill as it is an easily accessible ecosystem full of walking tracks and picturesque scenery.
“Disappointingly, its natural beauty is often degraded by littering or illegal dumping.”
Community members wanting to take part are asked to meet at the water tower car park off Captain Cook Drive at 9am.
Participants should wear enclosed footwear and bring along sun protection, a hat, gardening gloves and water. Rubbish collection bags will be provided, as well as a free barbecue to thank the local legends who took part in the clean up.
The community clean up is coordinated by Wagga Wagga City Council, Wagga Wagga Urban Landcare Group and the Wagga Wagga Tidy Town Sustainable Community Committee, with Cleanaway donating a skip bin.
