Better facilities for RFS volunteers

This month Council completed improvement works at the Brucedale Hall and Ladysmith Rural Fire Service (RFS) shed.

At Brucedale, toilets were installed in a newly constructed addition to the rear of the heritage-listed hall.

NSW Rural Fire Service District Coordinator, Riverina Zone, Scott Conlan said volunteers and local residents will all benefit from the new facilities at the hall, which is adjacent to the Brucedale RFS station.

“Sections of the tin cladding from the two original drop toilets, now demolished, was re-purposed in the extension to meet heritage requirements,” he said.

“A toilet was also installed inside the Ladysmith RFS shed.

“The upgrades in the Riverina Zone are part of a state-wide initiative to install toilet facilities at every RFS shed.”

“Wagga Wagga City Council manages the upgrade and construction works at the 32 RFS sheds located within the local government area on behalf of the RFS.”.

New sheds are planned for Umbango RFS and The Gap RFS, with development applications currently under consideration for both.
