New family room receives 'fantastic' rating

The Australian Breastfeeding Association has awarded Wagga Wagga City Council’s new Family Room in the Civic Centre arcade the maximum 5-star rating through its Baby Care Room Awards program.

Council’s new Family Room has been designed to enable carers to feed and change young children in their care in a comfortable and welcoming space, earning high praise from the Australian Breastfeeding Association Wagga group.

The clean and friendly environment features charging facilities, two separate sinks, comfortable furniture, a change station, microwave and early childhood resources to help carers express, breastfeed or bottle feed their child in safety and privacy.

Council’s Equity team worked to ensure the family-friendly space would cater to all people caring for babies and children, challenging existing perceptions around parenting facilities.
