Traffic and parking advice for AFL Wagga games
Published: 27 Feb 2020 2:58pm
Motorists and residents can expect traffic changes in the Robertson Oval precinct next weekend (March 7 and 8) when Wagga Wagga hosts AFL clubs GWS Giants and Richmond.
Parking for both the Saturday and Sunday games will be available on Bolton Park for a gold coin donation to local Apex whose members will direct parking.
Those attending the games are encouraged to utilise Bolton Park. Parking along Edward Street will not be available.
Motorists are advised to follow the direction of traffic controllers in the area and be prepared for short delays and detours.
There will be three entries to Robertson Oval – the main gate off Fitzhardinge Street, and at the northern and southern ends of the ground.
Fitzhardinge Street will be closed from approximately 2pm to 8pm on Saturday 7 March and 10am to 4pm on Sunday 8 March.
Local residents in this street will have access to and from their properties during the event.
There’s huge local support for AFL grand final clubs GWS Giants and Richmond and the new generation showed their true colours at a recent gathering of junior Australian Football players and followers at Robertson Oval.
It was all in preparation for the Tigers and Giants’ AFL and AFLW games in Wagga Wagga on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th March.
The build-up to this pre-season blockbuster is reaching fever pitch. Defending premiers Richmond is fine tuning its early season campaign while last season’s runner-up the Giants have plenty to prove in their first clash with the Tigers since grand final day.
There will be no holding back in one of the most anticipated AFL games ever played in the region. Tickets for the Marsh Community Series match are selling fast, so be sure to book your place at Robertson Oval online at premier.ticketek.com.au
Entry to the AFLW competition match on Saturday afternoon is a free gate and promises to kick-off a great weekend of Australian Football in the city.
Game day start times are 5.10pm for the AFLW on Saturday and 12.40pm for the Marsh Community Series AFL match on Sunday.
