Work is due to start on Monday (28 September 2020) to construct a section of the Active Travel Plan along Red Hill Road, between Plumpton Road and Tamar Drive.
The works will involve the construction of an asphalt concrete shared path that is part of the Kooringal Link of Wagga Wagga City Council’s Active Travel Plan (ATP) project.
Project Officer Henry Collie said it will upgrade the existing footpath on the southern side of Red Hill Road.
“The works will involve widening the existing footpath and placing a new asphalt pavement,” Mr Collie said.
“While construction is underway, access to the footpath will be limited to ensure safety of users due to the presence of machinery and vehicles on the site.
“Any pedestrians using the footpath will be guided around the works area by traffic controllers.”
The works are expected to take three weeks to complete, weather permitting.
Council is hoping by completing the majority of the works during the school holidays, the impact on the community will be minimised.
The Active Travel Plan (ATP) project will provide a 45km cycleway network linking the city’s outer suburbs with the central business area and end-of-trip facilities.
