Tourism partners recognised for efforts

The strong partnership between Wagga Wagga City Council and the local tourism industry was recognised at an end of year gathering for Wagga Wagga Tourism Partner Program members.

The function held recently at The Gardens Café and Function Centre was an opportunity for tourism, travel, hospitality, events and accommodation sectors to come together to network and build relationships across the broader industry.

During the evening, former Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga Greg Conkey OAM reflected on the key projects and events that Council delivered in partnership with the Wagga Wagga Tourism Partner Program members over the past 18 months.

This included the delivery of the Love NSW Campaign, A Very Wagga Christmas, The Picnic Collective and a series of tourism videos showcasing the diversity of the Wagga Wagga and surrounding region’s visitor offerings.

“We were still extremely fortunate to host many of our major events this year, generating visitation and economic benefit. These included the NSW Junior Touch Carnival in February, the Wagga Wagga Gold Cup and Raiders versus Knights game in May and the Wagga Wagga Comedy Fest and the Lost Lanes winter festival in June 2021,” Mr Conkey said.

A new Wagga Wagga + Surrounds Visitor Guide has also been produced and distributed to Visitor Information Centres around Australia and soon a new edition of the Top Spot Maps will be released and distributed regionally.

“Council is looking forward to continuing to support our local tourism operators with even more tourism campaigns and industry events planned for 2022.” he said.

The Wagga Wagga Tourism Partner Program provides businesses and other organisations with an opportunity to be involved in tourism marketing initiatives as well as industry workshops and events which are coordinated by Council.

Registrations to join the Wagga Wagga Tourism Partner Program is open all year round. Businesses wishing to participate can find out more and sign up through the website at visitwagga.com/partners
