Zoo opening hours to change as school resumes

Published: 29 Jan 2021 12:18pm

If you are planning a trip to the Wagga Zoo & Aviary at the Botanic Gardens from next week onwards, be aware the opening hours are about to change.

Manager Parks & Strategic Operations Henry Pavitt said to coincide with the start of Term 1 of the 2021 school year, the zoo will once again be closed to visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

“Over the summer school holidays, the zoo was open seven days a week to meet a rise in visitor numbers,” Mr Pavitt said.

“With school classes now resuming, it allows use to revert to the opening days of Thursday to Monday, 9am to 4pm, with no entry after 3.45pm.

“The two-day closure per week allows for further construction work to continue in the enclosures in and around the zoo.”

The change comes into effect from tomorrow (Sunday 31 January), with the first closures to be this Tuesday and Wednesday (2-3 February).

It is expected the zoo will return to full operating hours for the Easter school holidays.
