EOIs open for Art Gallery’s new residency program

Artists from across the eastern Riverina are being invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) for Wagga Wagga Art Gallery's pilot Regional Artist Development Residency Program by the end of June.

The program offers two places for residency in the gallery’s E3 art space at the Civic Centre in the second half of 2021.

Gallery Director Dr Lee-Anne Hall said the focus will be on the development and mentoring of regional artists by providing recipients with a spacious studio environment to pursue their arts practice for a period of up to four weeks.

“The aim is to support these artists in the practice, development and exploration of their art,” Dr Hall said.

“It will allow the recipients to undertake an intensive period of arts practice with the mentorship and resources of a major regional Gallery

“A month spent in the beautiful E3 art space on the Wollundry Lagoon will likely invigorate your practice and allow you to develop professional networks and opportunities.”

Gallery staff will provide artist support and mentoring, while the civic environment will provide stimulus, energy and connection to other creative practitioners and community.

“The program will bring the Gallery alive with creative energy, and the community will have the opportunity to see first-hand the value of what artists bring to our city.”

The two Regional Artist Development (RAD) Residency periods are:

RAD 1 - Monday 23 August 2021 - Sunday 20 September 2021
RAD 2 - Monday 11 October 2021 - Sunday 7 November 2021

Artists are encouraged to apply, with EOI's closing 4pm Wednesday 30 June 2021.

EOIs close at 4pm on Wednesday 30 June 2021. Applicants will be advised of the outcome by Friday 18 July 2021
