Plenty of Autumn activity at Oasis

Published: 11 Mar 2021 3:16pm

While Summer and the school swimming carnival season are now officially over, there are plenty of reasons to head down to the Oasis Regional Aquatic Centre over Autumn.

It has been a busy start to 2021 for the Oasis team, from swimming lessons and programs such as flipper ball and aqua aerobics to underwater rugby tournaments, topped off by Wagga Wagga’s school swimming carnival season.

“There were enough schools that we were able to hold a school carnival every day for the entire month of February and that’s even with double carnivals on Thursdays!” Oasis Customer Service Office Lauren Gaynor said.

“We held the last carnival for 2021 on Thursday (4 March), so you can now take advantage of the extra space in the 50 metre pool and pop on in for a lunchtime dip in the sunshine whilst enjoying fewer tumble turns.

“It’s also finals time in the Wagga Wagga water polo competition, with teams battling it out for a spot in the grand final on Saturday 27 March.”

For those keen to improve their water skills, Intensive Swimming Lessons will be held over the Easter school holidays.

The program features nine 30-minute lessons held each weekday from Tuesday 6 April to Friday 16 April.

“Intensive Swimming Lessons can be a fun activity for the school holidays,” Ms Gaynor said.

“They’re also a fantastic way to reinforce the skills learned during the normal swimming term or, if you missed out on Term 1 lessons, to sneak in some extra lessons before Term 2 starts.”

Bookings for Intensive Swimming Lessons open on Monday 15 March.

It is also time to start thinking about enrolments for Term 2 of the Swim and Survive program.

“This is a fantastic program catering for children of all abilities, aged from six months to adults,” Ms Gaynor said.

“It provides a broad, balanced program that develop swimming techniques, water safety and water confidence, survival skills and endurance. The aim is to prepare children for a lifetime of safe activity in, on or near the water.”

Rollover Enrolment Week starts on 15 March, followed by Re-enrolment Week from 22 March and Open Enrolment Week from 29 March.
