Second week of holiday fun

Published: 24 Sep 2021 12:39pm

School holiday activities across the city will continue next week after plenty of fun and games kept youngsters entertained during week one.

Wagga Wagga City Council has planned a series of small activities at various venues across the city as a replacement to the popular Spring Jam Festival which was cancelled recently due to the impacts of the pandemic and lockdowns.

Council’s Visitor Economy and Events Co-ordinator Fiona Hamilton said the activities for week two, starting on Monday 27 September, would be similar to the first week allowing families extra opportunity to take advantage of the activities.

“The school holiday program includes a minimum of one activity each day of the holidays, targeted at the lower secondary, primary and pre-primary school aged groups,” Ms Hamilton said.

“To ensure there is opportunity for families to attend, the activities will be repeated throughout the second week,  with a mixture of free Council-led activities as well as those offered through our local businesses.

“We’re hoping these programs offer an opportunity to get outside and to get active. We urge everyone to adhere to those restrictions still in place and to respect the requests of COVID marshals and the organisers.”

All activities will be run in line with the NSW Government’s Public Health Orders.

School holiday activities offered by local businesses will include Food I Am cooking school, a tennis camp, open studio sessions at Little Yellow House, The Marketplace cartoon drawing Zoom sessions, Sew Me workshops, Little Champions Holiday Program and Twin Cities Skating learn to roller skate sessions at Bolton Park.

Council will have activities at the Botanic Gardens including zoo tours and plant propagation workshops, as well as online library activities and art packs which will be available at the Visitor Information Centre.

The program will include a mix of free and paid activities. All activities will be ticketed with more information available on the Visit Wagga Wagga website at visitwagga.com
