Local sportsgrounds secure upgrade funding

Three sportsgrounds in the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area have received funding for projects to upgrade facilities and improve infrastructure and programs.
Combined funding of $891,318 has been allocated to projects at Wagga Wagga City Council’s Kessler Park, McPherson Oval and Mangoplah Sportsground under the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Community Fund.
The funding was announced late last year and also included $250,000 for playground improvements at Estella Public School.
Details of the upgrades at the sportsgrounds are:
- $189,220 to upgrade visitors change rooms and female facilities/clubrooms at the MCUE Football and Netball Club to make the facility fit for purpose to host women AFL and tennis players, umpires and volunteers.
- $365,171 to install a six pole 200 lux LED lighting system that will meet both the training and match day requirements at McPherson Oval.
- $336,927 to replace the existing amenities building at Kessler Park with a new fit for purpose building to include female friendly change rooms, referees room, canteen, male, female & accessible toilets, swipe card access control and CCTV.
