Wagga Wagga Airport

Council endorsed the Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga to call upon all candidates seeking election to the seat of Riverina to commit to representing Council’s airport issues to the Australian Government.

The Mayor will request confirmation from each candidate that, if elected, they will seek a commitment from the Australian Government to renew the lease of the airport to Council; to commit to funding the maintenance of the airport terminal, passenger flight apron, taxiways and main runway inclusive of all ancillary infrastructure; and commit to funding the expansion and upgrade of the passenger terminal.

Electric Vehicle parking

Council resolved to receive a report outlining how Council can encourage and support the increased usage of electric vehicles. The report should include, but not be limited to, consideration of the following:

  1. Opportunities to utilise any local or State planning tools or regulations to improve EV readiness across certain development types and the advantages and disadvantages of implementing them in the Wagga Wagga LGA
  2. An overview of EV incentives and charging station plans or strategies from other LGAs and other levels of government
  3. The costs to Council in implementing any of these measures

Draft Community Strategic Plan

Council agreed to place the draft Community Strategic Plan 2040 (CSP) on public exhibition commencing 3 May 2022 and concluding on 4 June 2022.

The Community Strategy Plan (CSP) describes the community’s vision and aspirations for a period of ten of or more years.

Council has proposed minor changes to the existing plan, leveraging off the already extensive work undertaken over the last five years, rather than create a new plan.

Members of the community are encouraged to read the documents and provide their feedback during the public exhibition period.

The plans will be made available for public feedback online.

RP-1 DRAFT REVISED COMMUNITY STRATEGIC PLAN 2040

Long-term plans available for feedback

Council endorsed the draft Delivery Program 2022/2026 and Operational Plan 2022/23, draft Fees and Charges 2022/23 and draft Long-Term Financial Plan 2022/23 to be placed on public exhibition for a period of 28 days.

Members of the community are encouraged to read the documents and provide their feedback during the public exhibition period.

The plans will be made available for public feedback online.

RP-2 INTEGRATED PLANNING AND REPORTING (IP&R) - DRAFT DOCUMENTS FOR EXHIBITION

Support for agritourism

NSW Department of Planning and Environment have proposed amendments to the NSW Standard Instrument (Local Environmental Plan) for agritourism and small-scale agricultural development to support farm businesses and regional economies.

Council noted the range of amendments proposed and endorsed the implementation of the new optional clauses in the Wagga Wagga Local Environmental Plan 2010.

Council endorsed submitting an EOI to have the clauses implemented.

Shaw Street Demonstration Gardens agreement formalised

Council agreed to formalise an arrangement with Shaw Street Demonstration Gardens Inc and enter into negotiations for a Community Licence Agreement over land located at 49 Shaw Street, Wagga Wagga.

Gregadoo Waste Management Centre

Council agreed to decline all tenders and enter into negotiations with any person for the provision of supervisory services for the construction of a new general waste cell and monocell at Gregadoo Waste Management Centre.

Appointment of Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee members

Council appointed independent external members to Council’s Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee.
