Wagga Wagga to host major regional swimming championships in 2024

Wagga Wagga City Council, in collaboration with Swimming NSW has determined Wagga Wagga as a host location for the highly anticipated 2024 NSW Country Regionals, allowing the chance for Wagga Wagga to showcase the best of regional swimming talent.
Wagga Wagga Swim club have also been selected to present the championships, which is scheduled to take place Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 January 2024 at Wagga Wagga’s Oasis Aquatic Centre.
The NSW Country Regionals not only serve as a vital opportunity for athletes to showcase their skills but also act as a pathway to qualify for the prestigious 2024 NSW Country Championships from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 February 2024.
The event provides a platform for upcoming country swimmers to compete against each other in various parts of regional NSW.
Swimming NSW Chief Executive Officer Kirsten Thomson emphasised the significance of the partnership between Wagga Wagga City Council and Swimming NSW in hosting these events.
"The involvement of Wagga Wagga council, in conjunction with Wagga Wagga Swim Club will ensure the event is supremely executed and a very exciting meet,” Ms Thomson said.
“We anticipate hundreds of athletes and their families will make the trip, fostering a strong pool of competition and presenting excellent tourism opportunities for visitors to explore the unique offerings of Wagga Wagga."
Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga Councillor Dallas Tout expressed his delight in the event and what it means for the local community.
"We welcome all swimming competitors along with their families to Wagga Wagga, to enjoy not only the fantastic Oasis Aquatic Centre but also everything that the region has to offer,” Cr Tout said.
“We thank Swimming NSW for choosing Wagga Wagga to host this exciting event and look forward to working with them for successful outcomes."
The 2024 NSW Country Regionals promises to be a celebration of talent, community, and the rich diversity that can be found in regional New South Wales.
