Dive into a new career at Oasis

If you’ve ever thought about working as a lifeguard or swimming instructor, then the Oasis Aquatic Centre has what you need to kickstart your new career.

Oasis is facilitating Royal Life Saving and AUSTSWIM courses that will give you the qualifications you need to work in the aquatics industry.

Oasis Programs Supervisor Brad Ingram said there was a Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Course being held this weekend, 3-4 August, as well two Teacher of Swimming courses in September, one run by Royal Life Saving and the other by AUSTSWIM.

“We facilitate the lifeguard courses once every two months or so,” Mr Ingram said.

“The Teacher of Swimming courses are not as frequent – perhaps four times a year.”

Mr Ingram said both the Royal Life Saving and the AUSTSWIM courses are a great starting point for gaining employment at a leisure centre like Oasis.

“In fact, by the time those who finish the lifeguard course get their accreditation we’ll be looking for casual staff as our visitor numbers pick up, from about the October long weekend on.”

Mr Ingram said there was always a demand for swimming teachers.

“We’re now in third term of the year, and even though it’s freezing outside we’re still seeing huge enrolment numbers in our Oasis Swim School lessons.”

If you are interested in attending this weekend’s Royal Life Saving Pool Lifeguard Course you can contact the organisation on (02) 6921 7422.
