Library’s Book Week Storytime

Published: 21 Aug 2024 1:57pm

Wagga Wagga City Library is celebrating Book Week with dress-up Storytime for kids and kids at heart.

Storytime is an entertaining and educational selection of activities, craft and picture books for one to five-year-olds and their caregivers. It takes place in the library’s downstairs Children’s Area every Wednesday and Friday during school terms.

Storytime is even more fun in Book Week! Everyone big and little is welcome, and you don’t have to buy a new costume to come along; reuse your costume from the Book Week parade, raid your dress-up box or just come as yourself.

Acting Library Services Manager Wendy Harper said Book Week was a great opportunity to get books into the hands of little readers.

“It can be hard for parents to keep up with children’s interests, but a library is the perfect place to see what grabs their attention,” Ms Harper said.

“And during Book Week, we especially enjoy highlighting Australian authors for an Australian audience – young or old.”

Ms Harper said Book Week is a great way to celebrate reading and writing.

“And after Storytime, children and caregivers can use the Junior collection, which includes board books and DVDs.”

Storytime is free to attend, and bookings become available 24 hours before the event.
