Andy Pye: Cockies and Hot Rocks opens at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery

Wagga Wagga Art Gallery invites you to a new exhibition entitled Cockies and Hot Rocks by artist Andy Pye, exploring the landscapes of the Victorian High country through vibrant paintings.
Cockies and Hot Rocks demonstrates Pye’s deep affinity for the natural world, with mountains, boulders, waterfalls and birdlife captured in vibrant, painted detail on canvas and board.
The exhibition will be officially launched on Friday 15 March, with Hot Rocks and Popcorn: An Evening of Landscape in Art and Film; an event of discussion, inspiration and celebration that includes an artist talk with Andy Pye, a tour of the exhibition, and a screening of Australian film Satellite Boy.
The event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery, where your ticket will get you a complimentary drink and bottomless popcorn.
Wagga Wagga Art Gallery Officer Astrid Reed said “Cockies and Hot Rocks is an inspiring and vibrant exhibition that appeals to all.
“We look forward to hearing from Andy Pye at Friday’s event and to show the Australian film Satellite Boy, which is rated PG so is suitable for a wide range of audiences including families.
“We encourage all to come along and support this Friends of the Gallery fundraiser which promotes the arts and culture of Wagga Wagga and supports the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery’s exhibitions, collections and programs.”
If you would like to learn more about the Friends of the Gallery, the Annual General Meeting will be held at the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery on Tuesday 26 March from 5:00pm.
“This is a great opportunity to hear about what it means to be a member, to review the achievements of the last year and hear about plans underway for the year ahead,” Ms Reed said.
Hot Rocks and Popcorn: An evening of Landscape in Art and Film will be held on Friday 15 March from 6pm. Bookings are appreciated.
