Wagga Wagga businesses interested in renewable energy options can tune in to a webinar on Tuesday 4 June and learn the savings and benefits of purchasing renewable energy through the power of group-buying.

Wagga Wagga City Council’s Net Zero Emissions Project Officer Hemendra Chaudhary said using renewable energy is a huge step towards achieving our community’s net zero emissions target.

"The Community Net Zero Emissions (NZE) 2050 Roadmap adopted by Council in November 2023 outlines key pathways which our community can adopt to reduce emissions and achieve net zero targets,” Mr Chaudhary said.

“Energy is a big part of that and the webinar will advise on how to reduce emissions in your supply chain by using renewable energy.

“By utilising the tools and information available to us, choosing renewable energy will be cheaper and easier than ever."

The webinar is being hosted by the not-for-profit Business Renewables Centre Australia which will support businesses considering Power Purchase Agreements through contracts that can span 5 - 10 years.

Mr Chaudhary said understanding and keeping track of energy usage is also important for a business

“The New South Wales government is currently offering a Metering Implementation Grant, which will help businesses unlock data about their energy usage.

“Businesses can receive up to $100,000 to cover 50 percent of the costs of installing an energy metering and monitoring system, which will help them improve energy performance.”

The deadline for applications is 14 June 2024.
