Wagga Wagga City Council is asking community and industry members to help shape Wagga Wagga’s future by joining a Council committee.

A total of 27 vacancies are available on the Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee, Australia Day Committee, Floodplain Risk Management Committee, Major Events Advisory Panel, Museum of the Riverina Community Committee, and Public Art Panel.

Corporate Governance Coordinator Nicole Johnson is especially encouraging women and people from diverse backgrounds with relevant experience to apply.

“We want as wide a range of community representatives as possible contributing their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm,” Ms Johnson said.

“Being part of a Council committee is an ideal compromise for someone who isn’t yet ready to put their hand up to be a councillor but still wants to make a difference for our community.”

Ms Johnson said councillors rely on committees to provide advice, to talk to people in the community and to bring back suggestions and ideas, and make recommendations to Council.
