Spring into Spring these school holidays

There’s a truckload of exciting events for the young and the young at heart to enjoy during the Spring school holidays in Wagga Wagga.

Council will be hosting holiday events across the city and surrounding rural villages throughout the school break, starting Saturday 28 September and continuing until Sunday 13 October.

Wagga Wagga Art Gallery

Creation Station for families – free activities encouraging families to explore the gallery’s exhibitions and make some art together.

Tuesday-Sunday throughout the holidays | 10am-2pm

Teens 3-Day Animation and Filmmaking Workshop – a free workshop for 12-17 year olds, run by proud Wiradyuri man Bernard Higgins, where participants will learn how to plan and edit a film using programs including Adobe Creative Suite and DaVinci Resolve.

Tuesday-Thursday 1-3 October | 1pm-4pm

Wagga Wagga City Library

Besides free colouring-in, craft and board games available every day of the holidays in the Level 0 Children’s Area, the library is running a huge range of activities in the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area. Many are free, but every child under 16 requires the presence of a responsible parent or guardian.

Sunshine Storytime in the Botanic Gardens – everything you love about Storytime but taking place in the beautiful Botanic Gardens.

Ukumamas Sing-Along – for children aged 4-11 years - sing, dance and learn to play along on a library-provided ukulele!

SPACESHIPS, GLUMPHS AND ECHIDNAS: Just three of the amazing shapes children can colour-in, cut-out and put together at the library during the Spring school holidays.

Family Movie Friday – pop in, grab a cushion and enjoy a movie suitable for all children.

Wagga Wagga Zoo & Aviary

The Zoo & Aviary is open seven days a week during the school holidays, from 9am-4pm.

At 10.30am, visitors can accompany staff on a walking tour where they can interact and even help feed some of the animals.

Entry and walking tours are free.

School Holidays for YOUth

Museum After Dark – ever wonder what happens in a museum after the lights go out? This free activity is the ultimate school holidays kick-off at the Museum of the Riverina - Botanic Gardens Site, with retro arcade games, massive movies and Nintendo Switch tournaments.

Mario Kart Tournament – a free evening of games, beanbag chillaxing and pizza at Wagga Wagga City Library.

Gaze the Miima – for all ages, at the Museum of the Riverina - Botanic Gardens Site, a night of stargazing and storytelling with local Wiradyuri knowledge holder Luke Wighton, and an amateur astronomer.

MEET THE LOCALS: Zoo Curator Wendy McNamara with Zeke the dingo at Wagga Wagga Zoo & Aviary. A walking tour through the zoo takes place every morning during the school holidays, a perfect chance for visitors to meet its inhabitants.

Spring Jam

A big day of fun and imagination is in store for kids and their families at Wagga Wagga’s free outdoor children’s festival, Spring Jam, running from 10am to 3pm this Saturday, 28 September, at the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens.

Museum of the Riverina

The museum’s prepared a great set of activities for kids these school holidays, from the return of the ever-successful LEGO® Minifigure Hunt to children’s brooch-making.

Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre

The Sound of Music – the world’s most beloved musical, presented by the Wagga Wagga School of Arts.

Signor Baffo – for children 3+ and families, there’s chaos in the kitchen when Signor Baffo’s left in charge!
