Young school stars to shine at The Supernova

Wagga Wagga’s shooting stars are fine tuning their stage performances in readiness for next week’s Mayoress Charity Concert at the Civic Theatre.

The countdown is on to this year’s The Supernova concert featuring talented local high school musicians, vocalists and dancers in two spectacular shows on Saturday 10 August, 2019.

Wagga Mayoress Jenny Conkey has urged community members to snap up tickets to the two shows and reminded people this is a concert for the general public and is not limited to students’ families.

“It’s important for the wider community and general public to get behind and support the concert for a number of reasons,” Mrs Conkey said.

“This is about our youth achieving good things in the community. All proceeds raised will go to Carevan Wagga Inc. so this is an opportunity to be entertained by some of the best young talent in the city whilst assisting a local project doing some outstanding charity work.

“There are some brilliant young performers in our community and I saw this year’s concert as an opportunity for them to take centre stage and show us their best. Opportunities to showcase their talents don’t happen every day so I want the focus to be on them.

“I really encourage the wider community and general public to get behind Supernova and support the concert. Get a group of friends together and buy your tickets to this great show.”

Schools involved include Kildare Catholic College, Kooringal High, Mater Dei Catholic College, Mount Austin High, Shepherds Park, The Riverina Anglican College, Wagga Christian College, Wagga High and Willans Hill School.

There will also be performances from students of the Riverina Conservatorium of Music.

The Supernova is on Saturday, 10 August 2019 at 2pm and 7.30pm at the Civic Theatre.

The Supernova concert is being supported by major sponsor Estella Rise, and also TAFE and Regional Express.

Tickets can be purchased in person at the Civic Theatre ticket office, by phone 6926 9688 or online.

Ticket prices are: Adults: $22, Concession: $18, Group 4+ $18, Child U15: $18.
