Rugby clubs within the Brumbies’ region and surrounds are invited to join the 2024 ACT Brumbies Super 7s, to be hosted by Wagga Wagga for the fourth consecutive year.

This exciting competition will be held over the weekend of 2 and 3 November at Wagga Wagga Exhibitions Centre’s Parramore Park.

Council’s Recreation Coordinator Joshua Walsh said this is the first year of a renewed three-year agreement for the event.

“We’re particularly excited because the event will now include three new age groups for boys and girls: U13s, U15s and U17s,” Mr Walsh said.

“This is lining up to be the biggest instalment of the Super 7s to date in Wagga Wagga.”

ACT Brumbies’ Development Officer Reinhold Kamilo said that after the success of the previous Super 7s, the Brumbies were excited to support the continued growth of the event.

“We are extending the competition to include a Tritag non-contact format that ensures participation for all ages in an accessible way,” Mr Kamilo said

“Each team will engage in a Tritag match to maximise participation for rugby players and exposure for our new non-contact competition.

“A special thank you to Wagga Wagga City Council in securing the Super 7s competition in Wagga Wagga for the fourth consecutive year and to all those who will assist in facilitating the day.”

Mr Walsh said the Super 7s connects our widespread community through an active, inclusive and competitive environment.

“The Super 7s boost rugby within the region driving participation and further supporting our local junior rugby clubs,” Mr Walsh said.

“Considering the size of the event, it’s important participating teams lock in their accommodation and travel arrangements as soon as possible.”

The tournament is expected to draw more than 1500 competitors, officials, families and supporters from across the region and other parts of the state and the ACT.

“This will have major flow-on effects for our local economy and local businesses who are able to capitalise on the influx of visitors to our city.”
