Young people aged 12 to 18 years old, and their circle of support, are invited to enjoy free and low-cost activities for youth this upcoming Spring school holidays!

The Youth of Wagga school holiday program kicks off with the Museum After Dark event on Saturday 28 September, at the Museum of the Riverina – Botanic Gardens site.

The program also includes free Mario Kart Tournaments with prizes, a relaxed movie afternoon accompanied with fresh buttered popcorn provided by Headspace Wagga Wagga, and a themed art class in celebration of World Taco Day with local artist, Erin Elsley on the Wollundry Lagoon.

Council’s Youth and Community Development Officer Mel Fattore said the program has been developed in consultation with young people who identified the need for more youth-orientated activities to take place during the school holidays in accessible and safe areas for young people.

“Through feedback provided during a series of ‘drop-in’ youth events that have taken place this year, young people asked for more gaming days, movie screenings and craft activities to take place in the school holidays just for high-school aged youth,” Ms Fattore said.

“Each school holiday activity and its locations have been chosen for their accessibility and safety features, which are key when catering to young people's needs.

“In addition, accessible resources will also be available for young people at each activity, and free food will be provided at all events.”

Council is committed to hosting inclusive and accessible events for everyone.
